"...The Grassroots Arts Program is funded through the North Carolina Arts Council. The program provides grants to support community-based arts programs in Buncombe County. The program gives priority to those organizations not funded through the Asheville Area Arts Council’s General Operating Support Program, organizations that serve under-served populations, organizations that are emerging to meet a special need in the community and/or projects that explore new and creative directions in the arts or projects that provide a special arts or cultural service to the community. Applicants must be non-profit and have been in operation for at least one year. Colleges, universities, community colleges, technical institutes, and municipalities may apply for grant funding only when the project will serve as a basis for Buncombe County community-wide involvement. The Arts Council strives to allocate a minimum of 10% of Grassroots Arts Program funds to organizations and/or programs of color (e.g. African-American, Native American, Hispanic, and Asian-American). Generally, grants will range from $500 to $3,000..."

"...The Regional Artist Project Grant is an annual grant program that provides financial support to developing professionals by funding a project pivotal to the advancement of their careers as artists. The program is conducted by the Asheville Area Arts Council in collaboration with the Toe River Arts Council, the Avery Arts Council, and the Madison County Arts Council. Artists working in all disciplines are encouraged to apply to the program. Applicants be at least 18 years old and have been a resident of Avery, Buncombe, Madison, Mitchell or Yancey County as of July 1, 2002. The Regional Artist Project Grant is supported by a grant from the North Carolina Arts Council through the Regional Artist Project Grants Program..."

"...The Artists’ Roundtable Fine Arts Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior residing in and attending a high school –public or private- in Buncombe County. The student will have demonstrated excellence in the arts and will enroll in a n accredited college, university, or other institution of formal training in the fall, intending to pursue continued training in his/her art form. Initiated by the Artists’ Roundtable of the Asheville Area Arts Council in 1996, the one-year scholarship is funded by patrons of the arts who are solicited by organizations affiliated with the AAAC. Financial need will be considered however, demonstrated talent will be primary element for selection. The scholarship will reward artistic achievement and is intended to encourage continued study of the art form..."
